International Experience

June 2023: Thailand - Co-lead a travel program for 9 students and their biology teacher throughout central and southern Thailand for 2 weeks, partnering with local organizations to facilitate activities around culture, conservation, and human-elephant conflict. I helped our travelers establish a positive group dynamic, overcome cross-cultural barriers, and reflect on their experiences through structured activities.

March 2018: Spain - Guided 15 students and their Spanish teacher through a cultural exploration of Spain, focusing on the historical context of the southern region and encouraging language immersion. I managed travel logistics, navigated dietary needs, and ensured the safety of the group at all times. I planned reflections and activities to provoke discussion about our surroundings, and shared knowledge and experiences from my time living in Spain to bring their travels to life.

July 2017: Guatemala - Lead a group of 10 students and their Spanish teacher throughout Guatemala, with the program focusing on language immersion, cultural immersion, and community service. I managed travel logistics, met participant needs, and kept the group safe and engaged throughout our journey. I facilitated daily activities to encourage cultural understanding and deep reflection to enhance their experience.

Sept - Dec 2016: Spain - Completed a 4 month practicum internship with Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid, fully immersed in Spanish workplace as the International Education Assistant at the Center for Hispanic Studies. I managed various projects focused on increasing intercultural competence of students coming to study in Spain, such as the development of a virtual online Intercultural Communication course and the creation of an Intercultural Communication Student Manual. I also assisted in the daily operations and program management of the Center and work to engage students in campus activities via social media.

Jan 2016: Spain - 3 week program in Spain where I built a network of education abroad professionals using advanced Spanish communication skills. I gained a well-rounded understanding of onsite program management through site visits to study abroad program centers, branch campuses, and Spanish universities. I worked with collegues to developed a website and social media report for the Middlebury School in Spain including competitor analysis, data analysis, and recommendations for best practices.

2012: Israel - Educational travel throughout Israel exploring the historical, religious, and contemporary aspects of the culture. I built strong cross-cultural relationships through interactions and shared experiences, despite language barriers and cultural differences. The experience also included community service and reflective exercises.

2010: Mexico - Traveled with group of event planners and managers to Los Cabos, Mexico.

2010: Peru - Semester study abroad in Lima, Peru. I took courses fully immersed in a Peruvian University and completed various group projects working with Spanish-speaking students. I also gained advanced Spanish language skills and built strong cross-cultural relationships, sparking my passion for education abroad as a career path.
